More people now looking for attractive remortgage deals

People are increasingly looking to remortgage their homes this
year, thanks to the fact that there is a scramble to secure a good
deal in the face of rising interest rates.
According to the results of a new survey from unbiased.co.uk, the
number of people looking for remortgaging advice has now hit an
all-time high, with 37 per cent of all enquiries on its site in
March relating to this matter.
This was an increase from the 33 per cent seen in February, and
significantly higher than March of 2011's 31 per cent.
Karen Barrett, chief executive of unbiased.co.uk, said: "Our
consumer search has seen an increase in the number of people
searching for remortgage advice, indicating borrowers who are
worried about lending criteria getting tighter are now taking the
opportunity to ensure they can obtain the best rate before it
becomes harder to switch to a better deal."
Recently, the Royal Bank of Scotland said that the cost of a
mortgage and lending conditions were becoming more favourable for
buyers.
